Case File No. 107 - Solved

I found this great scrapbook challenge website: C.S.I. Color, Stories, Inspiration.  I just love their concept of making the challenge a case.  I'm a huge fan of CSI the television show (the original of course... CSI NY?  No... CSI Miami?  ewww) and this theme for their challenges really drew me in.  "Cases" are challenges.  "Framed" is the photo gallery.  "Suspects" are their website members.  The "Scheme" is the color requirement.  "Evidence" is the required elements on the page and "Testimony" is the journaling.  Fun and original right?  Totally.

For Case File No. 107, the "Scheme" was pink, black, gold, grey and white.  I had the perfect paper pad, Authentique's Blissful Collection.  Anyone who knows me, knows I'm obsessed with paper and I love Authentique because of how thick and yummy the paper is, not to mention to the deep, rich colors in their design.  The "Evidence" required me to use at least two elements: umbrellas, flowers, ribbon, badge/flair, clouds, heart, diamond shapes, raindrops/splashes, wet medium, mini brads, long title and striped/harlequin pattern.  The "Testimony" centered on National Compliment Day (is that here in the U.S.A, or just an Aussie thing?... got to google it), love that idea.

OMG, she is so cute here!
The subject was one of my faves, my niece Sydney - she is so photogenic.  And I've always loved her compassion for animals.  She just loves all creatures (except maybe her little sister), but especially dogs.  Her mean old mom won't let her have one so she loves coming to my house to play with the dogs.  She currently is allowed a turtle, which she has named Francesca.

As for the challenge, I used a glittery heart from Making Memories, some Thicker letters for my title, some chevron stripped ribbon and some mini flower brads.  My layout was inspired by one I had found on pinterest.  So yeah!  Another layout done thanks to a great scrapbook challenge - and another blog post!

First Scrapbook Challenge of 2014!

Happy New Year!  And I'm starting out in the first week with a blog posting and a challenge! Look at me.  Thanks, as always, to my scrapbooking buddy, La-Vie, for posting this challenge on her FaceBook page and getting me motivated.

Leroy
When I visited Pin And Tack's blog, my first thought was "done!"  I mean - shiny is what I do.  I love bling and glitter and sparkle.  It is one of the reasons I love scrapbooking so much.  There probably isn't a creation of mine that doesn't have something blingy, sparkly or shiny.  The sparklier the better I always say...

The other awesome thing about this challenge was that each entry would benefit a great organization - Dogs for Deaf.  I am a huge animal lover, and have two babies that I rescued who are the best cutie mccutiekins ever... Tyrone and Leroy.  It breaks my heart to think of all the dogs out there who just want to give their love and loyalty to someone forever.  Two down... millions to go...
Tyrone, getting a Christmas kiss

Anyway... okay get it together.

Christmas is my favorite time of the year.  I love the presents, the decorations, the good feelings, the parties, the food, the drinks - so for this challenge I wanted to keep the holiday spirit going a bit longer (yes, my tree is still up), therefore, I created a Christmas themed mini-album.

I started with a Cosmo Cricket black chipboard album, and used an American Crafts 6x6 mini pad (merrymint) that I got at Marshalls for $3!  (Did you know you can find some great, brand-named scrapbook items at Marshalls, Ross, TJ Maxx and Tuesday Morning for super cheap?  Well - you can!). Embellishments used include some chipboard shapes from Studio Calico, and shapes I cut with my good old Cricut.

For shine and sparkle, I used some Tim Holtz tinsel ribbon that I LOVE, some red bling, glittery Thicker letters (Marshalls again).

In this photo, you can see where I used some silver Stickles on the dots of the present - cute right?  Totally.

Well, now I'm motivated for 2014.  Already ordered my Christmas pictures from Shutterfly to go in this album - can't wait for them to arrive!
